ORA Black Network Presents – Now & Then

Dear Colleagues,

Join the ORA Black Network for its second, much awaited virtual study series. Following our OCT 27th  exciting live event launch we’ll take a 5-week trip into 400 years of history discussing the NY Times 1619 podcast series.

At our launch, you will meet Dwight Townsend, CEO of GoMedics, learn about inclusive leadership with Mary Grogan, and start our look into Black history, locally, through a presentation by Blackhurst author Itah Sadi.

In the weeks following, members of the Black Network will facilitate weekly discussions of each week’s assigned episode.  Spots are limited to allow for greater group participation in the discussions.

It is highly recommended, but not required, to attend each week. However, participants will be expected to listen to the assigned podcast before joining that week’s discussion.

These events are free to attend.  Attendance at the launch on October 27th is not dependent upon participation in the 5 week-study.

Please feel free to spread the word.

We hope to see you there.

Implicit Bias In Healthcare: Inciteful Black Network Video

Implicit Bias in Healthcare: Inciteful Black Network Video

Dear colleagues,

ORA Black Network members Tania Harris and Nakema Walker delivered a compelling and instructive presentation at the recent Brain Injury Canada conference on Recognizing, Challenging & Interrupting Implicit Bias in Healthcare.

Take 30 minutes – soon – and watch this. It combines the telling of three true (and shocking) Canadian healthcare stories with helpful insights and “how-tos” for enhancing our awareness and improving our behaviours as clinicians, managers and citizens.

We’ve posted it on the Black Network’s page of our website so that it’s publicly available so that you can share it widely with colleagues, family and friends.

A huge shout-out of thanks to Nakema and Tania and other members of the Black Network for all their work helping us all to work better.

With thanks,

Sincerely,
Laurie Davis, Executive Director
